City of Oceanside tree  Maintenance maintains over 85,000 trees in the City right-of-ways. The maintenance consists of pruning, removal, root pruning, and emergency responses. The division annually responds to over 500 street tree work order/requests. The division is also responsible for inspecting tree removal requests from the public, which receives an average of 40 requests per month. All pruning performed on City maintained trees meets International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) pruning standards, and is performed under the direct supervision of an ISA Certified Arborist. The City also manages an annual street tree trimming contract which includes approximately 3,000 trees trimmed. The City of Oceanside has been awarded the status of Tree City USA for the last eight years. Approval must be obtained for Street Tree Planting installations that require a "No Fee Street Tree Permit".
