NewsBrief - Crown Heights Beach Soccer

Imagine the odds of soccer players in an after school program in an underserved neighborhood winning the National Beach Soccer Championships in Clearwater Florida. That is the story we feature in this NewsBrief. 
The young men on the soccer team based out of the Crown Heights Community Center in Oceanside, California, grew up together playing soccer at the after school program funded by North County Lifeline and formed strong friendships. 
They made history by making it to the National championships undefeated and went on to snatch victory from a physically bigger team froth East Coast. The team credits the support they received over the years from the staff at Club Crown Heights for helping them maintain focus and for the giving them the confidence that they could achieve their lifelong dream of winning the national championships.

Newsbrief: World Press Freedom Day

Amnesty International held an event on World Press Freedom Day at Wavelength Brewing Company in Vista, inviting locals to hear about the stories of journalists from around the world who are being censored by their governments because of the words they speak and write.
Jean Guerrero of KPBS was on site to share her stories about her time reporting in Mexico and the risks she faced there.

NewsBrief - OHS Performing Arts Center Ribbon Cutting

A ribbon cutting ceremony was held to celebrate the opening of Oceanside High School’s new Performing Arts Center. 
The center has a 502-seat main theater, a black box theater, indoor and outdoor scenery shops, classroom space, a recording studio plus outdoor seating and performance areas.
The ribbon cutting ceremony featured members from the OUSD Board of Directors, OHS Officials, City Officials and other important key players that helped bring this facility to life.
